With Derrick Rose being one of the most excellent and popular players in the world of basketball, it is undeniable that Adidas has unmistakably hit the mark by creating adiZero Rose, the very first signature sneaker Derrick Rose Shoes.
The 2010-2011 NBA season, also known as the 65th season of the National Basketball Association (NBA), marks the triumph of Rose over the two-year MVP reign of Lebron James, after the former was named the 2010-11 NBA MVP.
Since Rose was included in the 2008 NBA Draft, he has so far achieved the following accolades: Rookie of the Year (2008), NBA All-Star (2010), and starter for the United States team at the 2010 FIBA World Championships. Upon receiving the NBA MVP award in 2011, Rose became the youngest player who has accomplished the feat.
The Adidas adiZero Rose is designed to match Rose's unpredictable and fast-paced performances. The shoe's lightweight and futuristic design includes a low cut that is counterbalanced by an ankle-supporting strap and various technologies, which include SprintSkin, SprintFrame and PureMotion.
As its designer calls it, the "track spike for basketball" presents the legacy of Rose and the "adiZero construction" to US basketball consumers. "Light done right," which is the shoe's founding principle, eliminates shoe features that are not essential to Rose's solid performances.
With Adidas adiZero Rose, it is apparent that Adidas has come back to creating shoes that feature a more traditional collar. To make the weight lighter, the collar is made of fabric/micromesh material, which provides a comfortable and light feeling when worn.
As for the shoe's ankle, the standard ankle foam is used in order to make the sneakers thick but not limiting. There is definitely no feeling of discomfort with regard to the adiZero Rose's ankle system. Furthermore, suede, a kind of soft napped leather, is used in the shoes, and with the exception of Sprint Frame, the suede is wrapped on nearly the entire medial side of the sneakers.
Suede has been used in shoes in order to provide a normal fit even after a number of wears, when the fabric begins to expand. However, it is difficult for one to guess as to how the soft napped leather could give a well-appointed feeling that makes the shoes a must-have. It almost seems like the way a suede shoe fashions the foot is inexplicable; but with the addition of SprintSkin, the Adidas adiZero Rose is a full package.
In the previous NBA season, the world had a chance to grab hold of Derrick Rose's second ½ season sneakers called adiZero Rose 1.5, which featured a more established cut compared to its predecessor. Nevertheless, it still incorporated the technologies that were used in adiZero Rose 1.0, predominantly the PureMotion technology.
With regard to the use of PureMotion technology, the adizero Rose 1.5 reinstates the original Rose 1.0's colorways, tooling and traction design. Moreover, 1.5's pods are wrapped in a defined rubber that is in accord with the WaveBone design that is also popularized by Adidas. This particular feature has considerably added to the overall comfort and performance of the sneakers' outsole.
Adidas is undeniably exerting more effort in returning to the signature shoe competition, and it is definitely paying off. Furthermore, it is helpful that Adidas let athletes like Derrick Rose to complement his signature shoes by incorporating several personal touches, which include his signature in the insoles and the Poohdini tongue tag.
Both the original and mid-season upgrade of the adiZero Rose shoes provide a lasting comfort and great playability. However, the adiZero Rose 1.5 is a better signature shoe, for it highlights a total development and transition from its predecessor's features.
Greg is an all-around sports fan, but especially enjoys shooting hoops in his new adizero Crazy Light from Adidas. The Derrick Rose shoes may not help Greg play as well as Derrick, but they still up his game.
